Getting to Manapouri and the Tracks
Nestled on the shores of Lake Manapouri and the Waiau River, Manapouri is just 20km from Te Anau. Despite being a departure point for Doubtful Sound tours and the Manapouri walking tracks, this charming town often goes unnoticed. With a population of around 300, it offers a general store, café, garage, restaurant, motel, and other accommodation options.
Water Taxi Access
The Back Valley area is bordered by the Waiau River, requiring a boat crossing. Our water taxi connects you to the Manapouri walking tracks via river crossings, offering convenient access to these stunning trails.

- 11:00 AM – $15.00 per person, each way

Getting To Us
Standing looking at the water, our jetty is located to the left of the main RealNZ wharf at Pearl Harbour.
By Road
Manapouri is 20km south of Te Anau via State Highway 96. Follow the highway directly into Manapouri. At Pearl Harbour, parking is limited, but a free public car park is available on View Street, a short walk from the wharf.
By Bus
Some operators, like Real NZ or Tracknet Transport, may offer specific trips to Manapouri.
Borland Road/Lodge Access
For those hiking Mount Titiroa, consider starting or finishing at Borland Lodge, about 40 minutes (47km) from Manapouri via a branch off State Highway 96 toward Lake Monowai.
